How to Choose the Right Putter

Go to any pro shop or golf shop and take a look at the range putters for sale. There is a bewildering array of club shapes, lengths and styles. There are several types and variations in putters than any other club in the bag.

If you quickly look at what is on the screen, you can use some or all of the following (and perhaps a few more to come)

Here is a (not exhaustive) list of what you can find:

Long Putter
Short Putter
Heavy Putter
LightPutter
2-Ball Putter
3-Ball Putter
Cylinder Putter
Mallet Head Putter
D-shape putters
Blade Putter
Face-balanced putter

... and the list goes on!

With all this choice, how do you know if you have a putter that work for you? Well, not too much in the first place by all the choice is. Here are my recommendations for good a putter:

Invest in a decent putter!

You can spend a lot of $ 100 for a driver that you canUse only 10 times a round. Note that you will meet almost 50% of the shots with the putter, something you will be comfortable with. Like most things you get what you pay for, so if you buy something really cheap the chances are it will not just help the long term.

Choose a relatively "standard" putter

Shoulder much Putter, belly putter, etc. are not standard and do not promote learning the proper technique. Standard putters have a length in the range of 33 to35 inch (84-90cm) and research actually shows that statistically the shorter putters perform better.

Test the putter

You need to really try to see the putter, to see how they feel. This is just as important as it is with putter with all clubs. Choose 3 or 4 clubs that you think will be the ones you like and test them against each other. Preferably, in Putting on a green (or synthetic put green) than in the workshop carpet meet. Hitting realBalls into the holes really on a real green you a real feel.

Get the putter custom fitted

The chances are good that any putter you may purchase not quite right for you. Finally, we are not all the same size, weight and shape, it would go a bit too much of it, that would set off the shelf right for us all. Have the professional control of the length and lie-angle for you and make it as appropriate. This should be part of the service when purchasing a putter for everyDecent golf store or pro shop.

When you enter these tips in mind when buying your next putter you'll be sure you have the right putter for you. Confidence creates success.
