On 19 August 2009, Radical from Peterborough, England, successfully smashed the Nurburgring Nordschleife production car lap record by eight seconds, with racers and 'Ring expert Michael Vergers at the wheel. The new SR8 LM beat a record time of 6m48s, which has stood since 2005, also set in an earlier generation of Radical SR8. The record attempt was witnessed and confirmed by evo Both the UK and GermanySports Car Driving magazines. Around the car's road-legal, production car to confirm status, the car was from the United Kingdom to Germany pushed for the trial, with the same road-legal Dunlop Direzza tires for the trip and the record.
